Chompy McSnuggleboot's Guide To Writing Fanfiction.

.

1. Do your goddamn research.

It's a great excuse to collect stuff. Enjoy it. Flail a little.

2. Make sure your work space is comfortable.

The keyboard and screen should be at comfortable distances. Make sure you are warm and cozy, with a mug of tea at hand paw.

3. Get serious.

Ensure your wireless mouse is fully charged. Write, write, write, edit. Make sure you find that comma key before your trusty, frustrated beta removes it for you.

071213-1723(001) 071213-1716(001) 071213-1716(002)

4. Remember to take a break occasionally.

Get out of the house, have a snack, listen to some music.

5. And when you break your own heart with an angsty ending, remember, you can always ask mum for a snuggle, then sleep soundly with sweet J2 and Wincest dreams

Apologies for the poor quality pics, I only have a crappy phone camera.

Credit goes to my little model and writing companion Chompy McSnuggleboots (or Speedy as he was known at the adoption center.)

This is what happens when you go Christmas shopping, pop into the pet store for goldfish medicine, and come across the cutest little boy in their animal-shelter adoption corner. Not much Christmas shopping got done, the little devil managed to chew through a double layered carrier within ten minutes on the bus, to complete the journey in my daughter's handbag.

In the last week he has proven to be the gentlest, friendliest and chewiest creature. He genuinely loves to keep me company at my desk (assuming the cat doesn't have first dibs).
And no - he never poops on anything of mine :)
Can you believe that this little fella had been homeless for a month - and his papers listed the reason for rehoming as 'personality'?

Was that comma/beta advice aimed in my direction? ;)

Adorable little research assistant you've got there.

hahaha. Yep! You knew it!
I really shouldn't be allowed near animal shelters :0
All I can say in my defence is that I genuinely didn't know that the pet store had that corner for animal charities - still I think it is a brilliant idea.

That is a great idea. Our veterinary hospital has a big crate out in the lobby that usually has two or three kittens in it for adoption.

Awwwwwwwwww! he's adorable - and so right about the research being a great excuse thing :P

I love the research, and I am so glad that my family and the fandom indulge me with pretties and great fic :)

Hee! Adorable and helpful advice. Congratulations on your new family member.

I think his typing speed is faster than mine - it's just that he writes in jn]'.xxr (hamster-speak). I suspect his grammar is better than mine ;)

He is the cutest thing ever! And apparently much more adept at research than either of my cats. :D

May he continue to be a valued assistant for a long time.

[identity profile] anniespinkhouse.livejournal.com 2013-12-13 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Aww, but cats help by just being there. I'm not sure how old this fella is, so I can just cross fingers and hope we have a good time together.

Such great advice delivered by cuteness!

Probably the 'personality' of the people who had him first.

That is one cute Hamster!

Your new pet is so cute!!!!

? Personality?

[identity profile] jamiefraser0.livejournal.com 2013-12-13 09:08 am (UTC)(link)
Ahmm, hmmm, Uhh the Hamster was at the animal shelter? I think that´s the first time I hear something like that and he has a personality-problem? Hmmm, what did he eat too much or was too loud or - ah I know - his Lifestyle was too expensiv.

But the Little pic Story is sooo cute.

My own writing companion Luna approves. She is also a fan of sitting on the the keyboard, like Chompy McSnuggleboots.

So cute! :) Chompy probably doesn't know that it's Christmas time but we do. So I think it's a tiny, chewy Christmas wonder .. wonder of Christmas... what do you say? :D

YESSSSS. I like your new writing companion. Very much!

What an adorable collaborator! Much cuter than the last person I worked with. May the two of you write happily for a good time to come!
